There were multiple black women who were left in the shadows of the Civil Rights Movement. The success of the Montgomery Bus Boycott is an example of that.
A group of black, female professionals warned Montgomery city officials about the boycott more than a year and a half before Rosa Parks’ arrest. Despite the violence and interrogation these women faced due to their activism, they are rarely mentioned in our history books…if at all.
